Suzette that depends on why you are cutting it. Some people cut them up the front to add on lace and design to have an open sweater look. Others cut them up to use to make rag baskets and rugs. If you could tell us why you are cutting it would be a great help to know how to answer.
I cut the sleeves off & used the sleeves to make little sweatshirts out of them for my chihuahua he loves them the sleeve/wrist openings fit perfect over his little apple head and neck
