When we bought our French Country Cottage fixer upper a little over a year ago one of the first things we set about doing was updating the exterior.
Which translated into removing approximately 1,412 bushes. So.Many.Bushes.Other exterior updates included replacing the front door and shutters, changing the accent color to a gorgeous French blue, and installing the amazing and FREE solar system from Trinity Solar. Read more about how you can qualify for a FREE solar system from Trinity Solar and get a check for $750!We have done it on 2 of our houses now!
#1. Remove any unnecessary hardware. We had to leave the lock on because the automatic door opener wasn't working at the time, but eventually I removed the hardware and patched the small hole in the garage door with DryDex spackle, lightly sanded and then painted over it.
#2. Wipe down the door and touch up with a fresh coat of paint as needed. My go-to trim color is "Simply White" by Benjamin Moore.
#3. Lay out the magnetic hardware and place on the door according to the photo below.
Easy. Cheap. Adds instant charm!

Great updates! Only one suggestion... the double garage handles suggest that the "doors" will swing or slide open from the center. The middle window spanning the center of the door makes that image impossible. I'd like to see four or six windows span the width of the garage and paint a thin dark vertical line from top to bottom between the two handles. That would allow my eye and my brain to "see" two doors. You've made nice changes to update your new home.
