Need help in picking out curtains and a rug

Question

1) I have a light blue leather sofa in the living and need suggestions on curtain color and Rug that will contrast with light blueish. 
2) Breakfast area has off white sofa with green bright carpet.  I just need suggestion on Curtain that would go in that room.  I need the living room to flow towards breakfast area.  Attaching pictures.

If you want the living room to flow towards breakfast area you need to move the longer sofa which blocks that main entry area. Will you keep the white shades? The clock by the kitchen table is hung too high and looks odd by itself. Can you add some framed pictures along with it?  See pics of my ideas

I agree the  clock is too high, blue sofa should be flipped to face other room if you want flow.  The '70's pea green' rug does not go with anything, it should be taken out.  The sample above is a good idea, but a neutral with some movement might work best. Curtains should be basically neutral with some patterns of the blue in it.  Other colors may not work too well, but browns/neutrals can provide 'flow', 'movement' in patterns also help the flow, and the other two primaries are yellow and red, there lies your 'contrast.

Yes, to the samples above.  I too think the clock is a little high.  Green rug, is the wrong shade.   Maybe when you add some window treatments, etc.  take a color from those and put the same colored vases in the small windows above clock.   That will help take the color from floor to ceiling.   BUT  I will say, it's beautiful and such an amazing space for family and gatherings!!!!

I love your furniture. I like the roman shade look in the sample, but that rug in the sample is way out there. I could not live with it, too many colors. 
You do need to bring your clock down, go to Kirklands or Home goods and get something for the sides of the clock, looks a little lost. Home goods also has some nice rugs, as well as Tuesday Morning and Pottery Barn. Take a pillow with you and see what you like in the way of rugs. It is a beautiful space.

I would use the green rug somewhere else and go with either a bit darker blue or, my favorite-a gray for curtains and carpet. The lattice design seems to be popular right now. The gray is neutral and can coordinate with anything.

I would go bolder with a print with the light blue of the sofa and darker blues with maybe a  pop of red or maroon (can't tell which it is in the picture).  Rug I would go with a soft fluffy white or cream.  Your home looks lovely already, well thought out and inviting!

I'd use a nice natural fiber rug and some roman shades in a neutral color.  Then you can accessorize with a color to blend with kitchen and living.  I'd move your sofa and chairs around to have fireplace as a focal point of room.  I think you can do this and still see the TV.  Go with a darker  neutral LR rug and perhaps a bit larger as well.  You don't need blue in the rug, you can accessorize with pillows, etc.

For the light blue furniture I would use taupe or cream carpet with darker shade of same color for the curtains. For breakfast area, if you keep the green carpet push it further under the love seat. the carpet is too large. Actually, if you want it to flow with the living room i would get rid of the green and  consider using the same drapes from living room. the living room rug could possibly be used in the breakfast room.

Since you want flow between the rooms and the breakfast area has a green carpet, I would incorporate hints of green and possibly a darker blue into the living room. In the breakfast area, I would include hints of blue (in the curtains and/or throw pillows). For red tones, I would go with a tangerine or apricot in the living room as it is complimentary to the light blue. The breakfast nook would benefit from a warm red tone but tangerine would go there as well. I would probably go with pattern on the curtains (unless the rug you choose has a busy pattern). I would agree with muse. Take the green from. The carpet and soften that into a more pastel green - that will work nicely with the pale blue. Also add some navy. Navy and light lime are lovely together and those colors can be brought into scatter cushions.  Good luck with your project

A traditional  Persian rug would be beautiful in there.  As they have several shades of blue and of course red, off white and bits of green.  You can get a nice on on ebay.  I'd  put a 10 x 13 in that room. A little color on the walls would be nice.  Move the chair away from the fireplace and dress up that area.  In the dining area, remove the small clock and replace it with a 4 foot clock.  It needs a large scale focal point on that wall.  As far as window treatments, you can hang wide blinds if you want to keep it more on the contemporary  side.  If you decide to paint, a very light taupe paint or very light gray would make that room pop.  If you want draperies for a more formal look, I'd  go with an off white - the same color white that's  in the Persian rug.   Start with the rug and pull colors from it.  
You can find a Persian rug for well under 1,000 dollars.  They are an investment  and will never go out of style.  For the price you'll  pay for a fad rug, you can have a beautiful rug that will increase in value.

As you can see both rooms at the same time, I would suggest you use the same colours in both rooms.  I see nothing at all with the rug choices.  As the green mat is the prominent colour in the white lounge I would consider taking a pale tone of green and using that in my curtains. I would then replicate that in the blue room and add cushions matching the curtain fabric and place them on the blue and white couches, hence you  are bringing the pale greenish tone into both rooms.

By these pictures, the blue appears to be close to a pastel blue.  The chartreuse green is in distinct opposition to this blue colour and the type of furniture in both rooms.  I would go for a more neutral rug in the kitchen sitting room, perhaps a blue with some tan in it as well as in the living room a tan/not cream (with blue).   The kitchen area could be a bit more vivid in the design of the carpet and a more solid/subdued in the LR.
 With the current colours, I don't think you can blend them with the two rooms since they are so opposing.  Otherwise, simply go two distinct rooms, juxtaposing the other, eg.  keep the green carpet but use a vivid yellow carpet (perhaps with white in it) or a white with distinct 'dark' blue design  in the LR with yellow/red (no green) patterned (no floral) pillows.
Preference would be the neutrals with soft tan, almost wheatgrass curtains in the kitchen, large grommets (brass).  
I think you are more neutral in your taste.  The green carpet is beautiful, but maybe not in that room with the blue next door.

If you want it all to tie in together,you'd be better off sticking to cream or you'll be in danger of having too many different colours.I'd even ditch the red cushions for cream ones.3 colours are enough.

I would use off white curtains as close to the wall color as I could find,  and put a couple of 3' horizontal stripes about 2' from the floor (attach with stitch witchery) in the green colors in the green rug.   The current rug is perfect...or if you are wanting a change, a neutral off white would be pretty ...they make stunning new rugs that look like raggy sheep!   
A good source for good size material for curtains is a painting drop cloth.  Your curtain rods should be just at the edge of the windows.  Some people use decorative towel bars for this!
