Replacing the Old Carpet With Vinyl Plank Flooring

I couldn't take the nasty carpet anymore! Our small upstairs hall had old carpet with several mysterious stains in various places. Hubby did a little research and found these vinyl planks that looked pretty easy. In fact, the box said they were the easiest flooring ever. I don't know about that but it was pretty easy for us and we're not flooring experts by any means!
I spared you the before photo of the nasty carpet. Here's the padding underneath.
After we removed the padding and vacuumed all the dirt that was under it we were left with about 14.5 million staples to pull.
Here's halfway through. Which side do you like better?
For more photos and details check out my blog post. You can also see part 1 of our makeover -- when we pulled the carpet off our stairs and just stained the wood that was already there!

Why vinyl and not standard laminate flooring?

I really like your choice of color. It looks like what I have been looking for.

What is the name of the one you chose?

Yes, I plan on doing the same with our upstairs bedroom and bath. I see the one picture has the carpet padding down with the molding in tact. Then the next photo shows the beginning of your project and the molding removed. Did you need to remove it and lower it to meet the new vinyl flooring?

I installed the Allure in a rental house about 5 years ago and was so impressed that I installed it in my regular home too. It looks brand new like the day it was installed even with pets, kids, etc. I've found it to be completely waterproof. Note: Personally I've decided to stay with the Grip Strip, original type of Allure because if you ever need to change just one plank, you can! Once you go to any type of a click system, you'd have to remove half a room in order to replace a damaged piece.

Good decision taken by you because carpet consists of more dust than vinyl flooring.
