Plastic lids

Z on Sep 09, 2015I've seen others use dish drainers and CD holders to store their lids, but I have my own system. It not only keeps them orderly, but makes them easier to get to. No more kneeling on the floor reaching to the back of the cabinet to find what I needed. Instead I have stacking containers. The larger ones hold the bowls and the smaller ones above them hold the lids. It super easy to just pull out the set of containers, set them on the counter and get to what I need without having to get down on the floor. The containers can be found WM. Here's a picture of mine.Helpful Reply

Lou Ann Newell on Sep 10, 2015I think you should only keep what you actually will use. I keep mine in a badger in the bottom of the cabinet. I only have a couple of disposable ones and the rest are Tupperware or Rubbermaid bowls. I do keep butters bowl types around holidays to take to family get togethers so people can take home foodHelpful Reply

Tuxx on Sep 10, 2015I use a container that has lost its lid and store all the plastic lids there. I have a lazy Susan cabinet so I can find what I need very quickly. I keep the lids on the glass containers as they store easily. I have a friend who puts a number on the bottom of her plastic containers and the same number on the matching lids. The grandchildren can help & learn at the same time.Helpful Reply

Tammy Odom on Sep 10, 2015I keep most of them near to the bowls they fit. In one place, I've used a sturdy box. In another I've got a organizer screwed to a cabinet door. I also have a drawer that has lots of desk drawer organizers to keep the sizes straight.Helpful Reply

Lisa on Sep 10, 2015I use a container that the lid has gone to lid heaven or lost. I have two containers - one for square/rectangular lids and the other for round lids. This way they're already separated and I don't have to search through a bunch to find either a square or round lid.Helpful Reply

Leslie kaiser on Sep 10, 2015I nest my bowls in a cabinet and have the lids in a drawer above the cabinet. It's not always ideal if you're limited on drawer space in your kitchen.Helpful Reply

Jennie Herrick on Sep 10, 2015I went to a dollar store such as Dollar Tree where everything is a dollar and purchased a plastic container the size of a shoebox. I placed the lid to that box underneath that box and then placed all of my plastic lids to my storage bowls inside the box. Then I nested all of the bowls neatly beside the plastic shoebox with the lids inside. You could also use an old cardboard shoebox, or even a cardboard shoebox covered with contact paper to help keep it from breaking down too quickly. Honestly though, it's worth the dollar to get the plastic shoebox. Good Luck!Helpful Reply

Susan on Sep 11, 2015Life is too short to ponder over small stuff. I recycled all my odd sized or odd fitting lids and containers. Bought new disposable ones all the same sizes so I can stack them inside each other with all the lids under them in a stack. I got three sizes and keep them stacked. It became too complicated looking for the right lid especially when I had acquired some that looked the same but wouldn't fit some of the containers. Takes up much less space and I don't have to "bin" lids separately. Much easier to find them and store them.Helpful Reply

Laura on Sep 11, 2015I use a 'retired' dish strainer that I put next to the containers in the cabinet they're stored in. They stay very neat & I can see at a glance which one I need.Helpful Reply

Margo on Sep 11, 2015You said you have many container LIDS, you didn't say your had as many containers. I used to keep extra ones, but after awhile, you just look at it and ask yourself why. Match one lid to one container, take the rest to a plastic recycle place.Helpful Reply

Jean DeSavage on Sep 11, 2015If you have a lot of containers and lids, match them together by numbering them. Put the same number on the container and the matching lid. Easy Peasy. I keep my lids in a bin next to my containers on the same shelf in the cupboard.Helpful Reply

Julie Dever on Sep 14, 2015I finally trashed all my mismatched, lids and containers and bought several sets of the R---------d (red lidded) ones in various sizes. I got a great price on Amazon. Then I took a large plastic shallow tub (clear) and stacked every size container about 4 or 5 deep there. Then I slid this onto the biggest shelf in a lower cabinet. Next to it I have a shoe box size plastic container, and that is where all the lids get filed....vertically. I can't tell you how much time I am saving -- not having to root around, searching for matching pieces! Just grab the handle and pull out the tub, grab the size needed, slide back. Then slide out the box with lids, choose the right one, slide back. Just as easy to put back after dishwashing top rack! Also cool that everything matches, and the clear R--------d containers show contents without labeling!Helpful Reply
