Burlap & Lace Rustic Pumpkin

I don't do a lot of fall decor in my home, but I always pull out my pumpkins and spread them throughout my home every year. Gold pumpkins, bronze pumpkins, fabric pumpkins, real pumpkins, and now I have this beautiful burlap and lace rustic pumpkin on display in my home. Today I'm going to share with you how easy this project was to make, with only a few supplies.
When I spotted this amazing burlap and lace ribbon at my local Wal-Mart store, this project was born. I had already snatched up a pumpkin while I was at the craft store, but I wasn't sure what I was going to decorate it with until I had this roll of ribbon in my hand. I remembered I had some twine at home and instantly I knew that a DIY rustic pumpkin lay in my future.
For this project I used the following:
I first attached strips of the burlap and lace ribbon to the paper mache pumpkin by folding the corners over slightly and applying hot glue to secure it. I did this all the way around the stem of the pumpkin with 6 strips.
I then secured the ends of the ribbon to the the bottom of the pumpkin with hot glue. See the gaps between the strips of ribbon? Let's cover them up!
I filled in the gaps by securing strips of ribbon with hot glue in the spaces. I tucked the ends underneath the existing ribbon for a smooth fit. I wanted just a pop of color on my pumpkin, so I alternated the orange burlap (3) and burlap & lace strips (3).
For added texture, I finished it off by adding several pieces of twice to the pumpkin, securing the ends with hot glue. That's all it took for me to make this stylish burlap & lace rustic pumpkin. It is the perfect addition to my fall decor this year.
