Anybody have ideas for linen storage? I don't have a linen closet.

Valerie on Sep 21, 2015If you have space under your bed, I would get an old drawer, add some wheels, and that should solve the problem. There are plenty of examples on Hometalk. Here are some that might help: http://www.hometalk.com/b/1937467/drawers-reusedHelpful Reply

Recyclefriend on Sep 21, 2015When I lived in a small place without a linen closet (and very little furniture as well as lack of other storage), I got a couple of plastic garbage cans, added a wooden circle for the 'lid', but then covered the whole thing with a nice large sheet/ table cloth and they were then 'storage' AND bedside tables.Helpful Reply

Kincaid99 on Sep 21, 2015I also have a hassock (foot stool) with lift up lid for storage, this works great for smaller items, I roll sheets and pillow case sets together so easy to find, totes with rollers work for the larger winter items under the bed. On the back of closet door put a bathroom towel holder which holds 4 or 5 rolled towels, roll up your sheets and pillow cases and put them in holder (you could even tie them with pretty ribbon). A hanging vinyl shoe holder (you know the ones that hold around 12 shoes a pouch for each shoe) can work for single rolled up items. Space saver bags are great for seasonal changes. Thanks for letting us share.Helpful Reply

Kim Kilmer on Sep 21, 2015When I switched over from a desktop computer to a laptop I had the computer armoire in my living room. I moved it into the bedroom and it holds all my quilts and linens. Craigslist always has folks getting rid of tv and computer armoires for free or very cheap.Helpful Reply

KayDeOH on Sep 21, 2015A cedar chest at the foot of the bed holds our sheets and blankets. The chest has a cushion on top so we can sit and put on our shoes. I got the chest in the clearance room at Penneys for $40. Works for us!Helpful Reply

Trixie63 on Sep 21, 2015Over the years for linen storage I've used toy boxes as ottomans, ottomans with storage, army chest at end of bed for seating, plastic tubs on wheels for under the beds and hung on hangers in a closet. Once i only had some metal shelving so I made a slip cover for the shelves and stored the linen in clothes baskets. Many times I've had to use a variety. Now I have a huge linen closet which hope a into the bathroom and hallway. It's one of the main reasons we bought the house.Helpful Reply

Susie VanEmburgh on Sep 21, 2015Get those plastic bags that you hook up to a vaccuum cleaner hose and suck out all the air. They get as flat as a pancake. Honest! Then slide them under the bed!Helpful Reply

Etta on Sep 21, 2015Buy (or sew) some pretty pillow shams. Put one set of bedding inside and you're done. Most homes have three set of linens per bed, so one on the bed; one in the laundry and one disguised as a pillow...or two if the laundry is done. Store them right on the bed! How handy is that?!Helpful Reply

Carole on Sep 23, 2015An old chest or blanket box used as a coffee table or an ottoman with lift up lid is great for storage. They also make beds that the mattress part lifts up and the base/divan is a storage area. Some sofas have the same idea - lift up the seating and storage under the seats. If your blankets are pretty you could use a blanket rail or ladder and have them on display (some people display quilts this way). An armoire is also another idea. Even an old buffet with the shelves removed would hold a lot of linen or blankets.Helpful Reply

Neil Eden on Dec 27, 2015I used to be a linen hoarder until I moved to a home without a linen closet. I had to limit down to two sets of sheets per bed. The spare set was stored under the bed in a small container. I hung a shelf over the bathroom door in each bathroom to store extra towels and cleaning stuff ( hidden in pretty baskets).Helpful Reply

B. Enne on Dec 27, 2015I used dh's highboy or armoire at our cottage. It had 2 shelves on the top (= 3 sections), that we used for sheets, and 3 drawers that we used for towels and face cloths. We kept the beach towels in the garage, near the washer and dryer.Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Dec 28, 2015Good tips. I do as Darla does - Under-bed storage containers are great as there is a lot of wasted space under the bed, the stuff is not cluttering up drawers, etc.Helpful Reply
