Janet Pizaro on Sep 24, 2015There are so many vibrant colors to use. I personally would not go blue. Try choosing a color from both the roof and brick. There are beautiful new exteriors shades being offered today. For example go on behr.com for color inspirations.Helpful Reply

Z on Sep 24, 2015@Cindy, if you can take and share an straight on photo of you home I'll add some shutters in different colors for you to help you decide. I think the blue would look beautiful as it's a complementary color of your brick. Which means they are opposite each other on the color wheel.Helpful Reply

Jonnie Hammon on Sep 25, 2015Pick a color you love, as you'll have to look at daily. Choose a complementary color, if you want a nice feeling from it, or choose a contrasting color, if your want the wow factor. Make sure it's a color you will enjoy seeing daily.Helpful Reply

Lauren365 on Sep 25, 2015You can picture the blue by looking at the truck next to the brick. I think denim blue could be good, as long as it has a grey undertone. However, I would do a charcoal for the window frame, and leave the blue for the front door. You could then do some planters or other outside landscaping item in the blue to tie it together. If you do red, I would lean more towards a red with a blue undertone than a yellow undertone. red with a yellow undertone might start to look a little pumpkin-yHelpful Reply

Jan Beaver on Sep 25, 2015Paint the brick! I love painted brick and it is not that expensive. Paint it white or a soft green. Then pop a Red door and and trim can be almost anything that blends with the color your paint the brick. There are very few trim colors that really look good with the color of brick you have.Helpful Reply

Beatrice Helena on Sep 25, 2015Since the roof is dark you can go with grey. You can go with Kelly Moore Plymouth Gray for a light grey, Winter Park, or Pebble Beach. I would leave trim white. The door can be left white, black, or red.Helpful Reply

Mary on Sep 25, 2015Hi, I have a different view on colors, try considering the brick a neutral color and add accents that compliment it. All neutrals are either cool or warm looking. There is a Benjamin Moore paint called Spirit in the Sky. Something along that color line would compliment the tan brick. I would use it on the front door. Painting brick can be a maintenance nightmare. After the door is a color you like add color with landscaping, a bench, and pots etc to compliment your colors. Rather than shutters maybe window boxes? An arbor across the inset part of the front of the house to the edge of carport would look nice. Have fun deciding!Helpful Reply

Diane Nuckolls on Sep 25, 2015pick the darkest shade of the brick for your trim. Paint your door something that compliments the brick (maybe a soft turquoise) Shutters should be trim color or color of door. It will look fantastic. I sometimes make a picture of something and use colored pencils to see what it will look like. Copy from your computer and try this.Helpful Reply

Jim L on Sep 25, 2015Due to some inconsistencies in the bricks, painting them a medium gray would be nice. Whatever you do, paint the trim around the door "bright white" and the doors a bright blue. If you use a super dark color, it will look like looking into a cave. Please DO NOT put shutters on this house. They are inappropriate and will look ridiculous on this contemporary house. When folks have wide windows like these and then stick some narrow shutters up, they look soooo bad! Add color to your front with plants...Helpful Reply

Centrd on Sep 25, 2015I would consider the style of the home and what direction you want it to go. It looks contemporary and I can see you adding some modern horizontal wood fencing or panels to the front or on the carport somewhere. Also, I'd love to see some of those really large over sized address numbers, maybe hung vertically, between the door and the big window. You could turn it into a mid century stunner without too much work. And the carport would fit right in with that style. Gray could be a good color, because of your roof color and it would cool down the red. Shutters could be okay but could also send it in a more traditional direction which will be hard to pull off completely because of the carport...but if that's what you want, then shutters will do that. But my feeling is this could be a really cool looking contemporary home with a few carefully selected touches. Painted or unpainted brick, either way. Maybe check out images on pinterest or google for "mid century brick rancher"...Palm Springs mid century rancher" would be another good search...see what you find. Mid century is what all the cool people want right now, so instead of fighting your house, really play it up?Helpful Reply

861650 on Sep 26, 2015Here is another idea. Now, I know there are websites, and maybe even on Sherwin Williams, that you can upload your house and place all the colors you want on it. There must be decorating sites where you can do the same with things like different types of door, windows and shutters, and accessories etc.,Helpful Reply

Wanda sinnema on Sep 28, 2015I wouldn't paint the brick as suggested,, part of owning a brick home is the charm of the brick.. PLUS once you paint it you have to repaint and repaint... I had a tan roman brick home close to yours.. We had new windows put in with a ivory frames.. white looked to stark. I painted the doors a dark wine, had it color matched for a new storm door.IT looked sharp. had great light with lots of sun. DO NOT paint the door the same color as the shutters.. it should be a contrast of them,, either same hue but much darker or lighter... so it will POP. that tells people to "enter here" colors don't have to be neon.. just a contrast.Helpful Reply

Jacalyn on Sep 30, 2015It looks like your roof is grey, so charcoal would look good for trim or shutters. Another suggestion is to drive around a bit and look at other homes to see if there is a color combo you really like.Helpful Reply

JustSue on Oct 03, 2015If you decide to pain the brick...which is not a bad idea...I suggest you pick a light color. You can always go darker, but an initial light color will allow you to (even randomly) antique, or edge, or shade or highlight the bricks with a slightly darker color to break up the monotony. I would love to see what you end up doing. Please post an "after" shot!Helpful Reply
