Who Doesn't Need Extra Space for All Your Spices?

With a kitchen cabinet end showing, a little extra space and the purchase of one matching wall cabinet, you will be surprised what it can become.
Buy a matching 12" wall cabinet that matches what you already have in the kitchen. Same length and style. Or, one as wide as your present one is deep. Take the back off (bracing, backboard or whatever). Then cut vertically in half. We cut ours to a depth so that cabinet would not extend past the extra wall space.
For the shelves, my husband bought thin pieces of oak (to match the type of wood of cabinets) and stained them the same color. Built some ledges (to hold the shelves) that were glued and nailed on. You should do shelving before you attach the cabinet to your end cabinet.
Also added was some extra support at the top, besides just screwing into the cabinet towards the bottom.
And the extra space that I now have for most of my spices makes my life so much easier when cooking. And, no one can even tell that it holds spices. Looks like part of my cabinet. I bought decals of spices, etc. to add to the front of the cabinet, but I think I like it just the way it is. Wish I had taken photos of the work as is developed but this was a few years ago, before I even thought about posting.
