Beach Inspired Media Console

We have had this dark wood media console for a few years. It's been in our family/rec room in the basement - but for some reason, it just has never really 'popped' the way we wanted it to. In the dark room (because it's only got one half size window), the console just sort of sinks into the shadows.
We decided it was time. Not going to lie - it was a hard decision to paint something that felt so 'new'. But we really wanted something that would brighten the room and give it a little personality.
We used the colour Antique Wedgewood. It's wonderful and blue and soft and a little bit like being at the beach.
But it was still missing 'something'. Sure the colour was nice - but we wanted to bring it up a notch. So I cut a piece of poster board to fit in the shelf and duct taped it together. I ran out to the fabric store and found some cotton canvas in a stripe with blues and sandy beiges. Normally, I wouldn't do beige at all - but in this case, I loved it!
