IKEA Hack: ARSTID Lights

Who doesn't love a good IKEA hack? A few years ago I had purchased two of the IKEA ARSTID wall lights to mount on my headboard for warmer lighting in the bedroom. After we had moved, the headboard I had these lights hung on had no use. So the lights sat
And sat.
Then came the time to decide either get rid of them or fit them into my guest room makeover. The problem was they were no longer my style. I planned for gold accents in the guest room and these were not.
After my searches on Pinterest, I found a great tutorial online (click my blog link to access the other tutorial) and got to work

Here are the lights before. They had a silver base and white fabric lamp shades.
I took the shades off the bases and removed the fabric. This is pretty easy to do with a pair of scissors. Once I removed the fabric, I taped the edges of the plastic shade to give the illusion of a sealed edge. (after spraying the first coat of spray paint, it didn't not adhere to tape, so I nixed the tape and resprayed)
I also taped areas of the lamp that I did not want sprayed. I actually did not use a true gold color as the price was much higher for the metallic colors. I went with Champagne Gold and I love how it turned out.
I love how it matches the small gold mirrors.....perfectly!
