How to Make Liquid Castile Soap Concentrate
- I was tired of storing a gallon of my homemade liquid castile soap under my sink because it took up so much room. I also didn't like how it separated when stored. I really love how easy this recipe on how to make liquid soap is, and you don't have to grate the soap before you make it.
To make the soap, you'll need a quart mason jar, one bar of castile soap, a knife, cutting board, and hot water.
Heat four cups of water on the stove. You want the water to be hot without boiling. While the water is heating, slice up the soap. It should flake off without too much effort. Transfer the cut up soap to a mason jar that's sitting on a heat proof surface.
Make sure your jar is sitting in a spot where you won't need to move it for a while. Slowly and carefully pour the hot water over the soap until the jar is almost full. To temper the glass, I pour a few inches of water at a time and then wait to add more.
Let the jar sit while the hot water melts the soap. In an hour or so, all of the soap should be melted. It should turn in to a gel the next day. If your house is warm, it might stay a liquid. It will still work the same.
I use a tablespoon on a gallon of hot water to mop my floors. Sometimes I also add some borax. Just don't add vinegar because it will cancel out the castile soap.
