I have a new to me house that is heated solely with gas fireplace. It has a blower but it is not automatic. I have been plugging it in when i see fireplace on, this doesnt work when I am not home or asleep obviously. I know there are automatic ones but I would need to pay someone to install so that may eat up any savings. I have even read the blowers dont really do much. Any insight?

Actually the blowers are worth having on as they distribute the heat further in your home.I would look into the possibility of replacing the blower.

I love mine for exactly the reasons you state you need. Personally, I'd recommend the investment.

It hasnt gone out. It just is not one that works in conjunction with the fireplace. When i plug it in, it turns on. I just dont want to pay for electricity to run blower when fireplace not running.
