What can I do with the top part only of a dining hutch?

Tonia on Oct 06, 2015If the bottom is flat you can put some bun feet on it and make it a curio cabinet. You can also remove the doors and make it a book shelf. If the bottom is open you can add a board to make it a solid cubby or trim it down.Helpful Reply

Tonia on Oct 06, 2015You see alot of buffet cabinets with a different color top. I think this would be a good option so you don't have to try and match the wood types. Buy some wood slightly larger than your hutch so it will leave you a bit of a lip you can place a quarter round below the lip to give it a nice finished look. I would leave the bottom stained and paint the top to look destressed.Helpful Reply

Opal on Nov 16, 2015This seems rather cool. I would think you could convert to a bar rather easily. I agree that a base would be needed and could be a piece of plywood cut to size (or larger for scale) with trim and feet added. For the top, I would think plywood would also work which you could add tile, colored glass, back splash material or even flooring products. A piece of plywood is about $20 and home depot will cut it to size for you at a cost of 50 cents per cut, I would keep any leftovers in case you think of something else you want to do either on this project or another project.Helpful Reply
