Painting an old adult size tricycle.

I got an adult size tricycle that I have put in a flower bed. I bought some spray paint for metal and am now wondering if I have to sand it before spray painting? Please advise me of the best prepping before spray painting. Thank you.
As you can see, there is some rusting on the crome and painted portions of the tricycle.
I have chosen Valspar outdoor spray paint. The can doesn't mention any thing about sanding rust.

Yes lightly sand ,clean let dry and paint.Nice find.

Betty, according to their website, all you have to do is "Clean and dry surface. Remove dirt, grease, etc. Dull glossy surfaces." Once you do those, you should be good to go. Please come back and share the finished project. I'd love to see it.
