Decoupage dresser drawers

I need to know how to "fray" the edges of the maps I will use to cover the drawer fronts. I usually decoupage with the burnt edges but I just want an old frayed kind of look.
Any suggestions?

@Thank you Janet.I'm so sorry for the loss you experienced too. It's so hard not being there, isn't it? Our grandson is home sick, but I don't think I could have driven that far alone today anyway. As strong as my cousin has been, coming back to us two other times we thought we were going to lose her, she may make it until my planned visit next week. I've kept my reservations, just in case. This time her vitals are telling us it is more than likely the end of her fight though. I found it so hard to leave her last month when I visited. I surprised her for her 61st birthday. After wishing her happy birthday on fb, saying I had a very busy morning ahead of me and would call her as soon as I could, I drove six hours to her home. I called as promised as soon as I parked in front of her home, adding that I'd love to see her, she said, as I knew she would, that she'd love to see me too. By then I was on her front porch and could see her sitting in her chair looking another direction. I told her to look out her door. I'll never forget the joyful surprise on her face.

Donna, there are tools, ruler like, with a rough deckle edge that you use to place on top of the paper you want a rough edge on. When Googling to find a picture for you of what they look like, I found a more awesome product than I've seen in the past and thought I'd share that with you. You can find deckle edged tools at most any craft store that sells scrap booking supplies. I'm linking to what's available from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Darts-crafts&field-keywords=paper+tear+edger

I have taken a tiny paint brush and wetted it in water to go around where I wanted to tear the paper and it pulls apart with frayed looking edges--It looked fine to me
