Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals
by

(IC: blogger)
It's the third annual Thrift benefit for sheltered Animals where bloggers find treasures at Thrift Shops which support Animal Charities, make them over and share their DIY's to bring awareness to the needs of our furry friends.
Many Thanks to Jeanette Chaney for creating this event - now in it's third year!
These were my "befores" -a childs step stool and pre-loved cookie jar
A coat of multi surface primer works wonders (I didn't even sand it)
a blank canvas
A stencil and chalky paint add interest
I taped off some areas and spritzed with gold multi surface spray paint. I then decoupaged a printable, and once dry gave it all a quick coat of clear spray varnish and voila
Since this will be a lightly used piece - the decoupage and varnish should hold up under dainty paws
a step up for our elder kitties favorite seat
The cookie jar gets the same coat of Rustoleum primer to camouflage tiny chips
Some multi surface paints add accent in our color scheme and mini removable chalkboard announces "Cat treats" in french for those continental kitties
Since this is decorative use, and I wouldn't want to throw it in the dishwasher, I'll use it store bag treats and simply wipe with a damp cloth if it gets dusty
Enjoyed the project?
