TinaLouise on Oct 13, 2015Had to same issue and pruning helped. Did have a year of no blooms after the bad winter but pruned and got flowers this year. I have relocated my butterfly bushes and lantanas at all times of the year and have had great success. They are pretty hardy plants.Helpful Reply

HappyGrandmaGA on Oct 13, 2015The bushes are 6 years old and my husband used to prune them but I told him I was told not to touch them ever....so they have not been pruned for the last 3 years. The one hydrangea with flat white flowers never bloomed after the first year and it has never been pruned......so we've had a huge green plant for 4 years and not even one flower! I am ready to take them back to the nursery.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Oct 13, 2015ok just wanted to start there with the pruning. Hydrangeas are pruned after flowering and only dead wood. I would try to amend the soil and see if any new growth appears. As for your lantanas and butterfly bushes you can remove them now just make sure you dig very large around the root ball as not to disrupt the root system.Plant them in a very large pot with a good potting mixture. Keep them well watered to keep the root system going as they may go into shock.Helpful Reply
