$3.00 Picnic Basket Makeover!

A $3.00 Picnic Basket from my local Humane Society Thrift Store got a makeover with tissue paper & fabric!
I'm mad about plaid! This basket will be nestled under my Christmas tree full of presents...
First I found some great plaid tissue paper at Target. But before I put the tissue paper on, I painted the edges & handles with Chalky Finish Paint in Relic...
After cutting the tissue paper to size, I used decoupage medium on the basket to adhere the paper- when it was dry, I added a top coat of decoupage medium.
Using a plaid fabric, I cut out pieces to fit inside the basket. Then turned the raw edges under and hot glued the fabric (around the edges) to the inside of the basket...
It took no time to give this basket a makeover! Because the outside is tissue paper, I won't be taking this on an outing, it will be a prop at my fall party...maybe holding plates and cups & it will be front and center under our Christmas tree with pretty presents piled inside! Thanks for having a look at my project that helped sheltered animals! If you have a Humane Society Thrift Store near you, think about donating and shopping there!

Country Design Style-Jeanette on Oct 16, 2015This is perfect for holiday displays. I would add a small tree inside.
