I'm so glad you are promoting this as so many folks think that they are not creative but once they try various textures with flowers it builds their confidence and they realize that they too can help create beauty. It's also a good idea to encourage the kids and grandkids to create their very own floral and foliage masterpiece.

@ Garden Rebel, yes I agree, our 10 year old has her own area of the side yard and her recent creation is a patio with recycled stones and a few plants, I'm not allowed to disturb it, it's great!

FAVORITES FOR ARRANGEMENTS FROM MY YARD ARE CLIPPINGS OF VARIEGATED AUCUBA AND DOMESTIC NANDINA W/ RED BERRIES . I CLIP NEW GROWTH IN THE EARLY SPRING FROM THE AUCUBA AND PUT IT IN A LARGE VASE . I HAVE A NEIGHBOR WHO LIKES IT ALSO . THE FOLIAGE WILL LAST FOR WEEKS . THE NANDINA IS CUT THIS TIME OF YEAR .NOT TOO MANY NANDINA BERRIES THIS SEASON SINCE I CUT BACK THE BUSHES TO ABOUT A FOOT TALL IN THE EARLY SPRING . . THEY HAD GOTTEN SO OVER GROWN . THIS TIME I TOOK BETTER CARE OF KEEPING THEM PRUNED TO A LOWER HEIGHT .
