We have A Kohler "Forte" faucet in our 2 year old bathroom that has suddenly lost water pressure from hot and cold.

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 04, 2011Check the screen on the discharge end of the faucet. The little round thing that is on the end of the faucet. It sounds as though it became plugged with some silt from the water supply. If that does not fix it, then the faucet cartridge may be at fault. But that rarely happens on both sides hot and cold at the same time.Helpful Reply

Vicki K on Dec 05, 2011Got it off! cleaned out but doesn't make a difference. Water ran with the same pressure without the screen in place. How are the cylinders replaced. From under the sink?Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 05, 2011here is a link for this project. There are two lever and single lever faucets. http://411plumb.com/kohler-forte-faucet-troubleshooting-repair-guide If you have a two lever faucet I find it odd that both sides are putting out low pressure at same time. The cylinder cartridge is removed from the top after you remove the handle(s) Its not hard but just remember to turn off the water under the sink before you begin.Helpful Reply

Vicki K on Dec 09, 2011Update: I had a friend check the water pressure and found that it definitely is the fixture and not something in the line. Unfortunately he didn't have the time to take the whole faucet apart. So I still have the same pesky problem. It seems odd to me that both cylinders would go out at the same time especially when the faucet is only just 2 years old.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 09, 2011Vicki, that is why I and several others thought the screen was plugged at end of faucet. I cannot help to think its something else. Perhaps the tube that connects both of the faucets to the spout may be plugged or perhaps if a gasket it used or rubber washer to seal off the connection to the faucets has become damaged or plugged as well.Helpful Reply

Patsy W on Dec 09, 2011Vicki, does it have a Cartridge thingy [as Woodbridge suggested]? Both my son & I have had to replace those on newer kitchen faucets! Not really sure what the "cartridge" does, but does seem to break down a lot. Probably easier to replace than repair, as annoying as that is! Best of luck!Helpful Reply
