DIY Budget Kitchen Make-over

This kitchen looks modern and nice now, but you should have seen it before!!
It’s a good feeling when a DIY project comes together as you visualized.I’ve never tackled a complete kitchen make-over before and this one was on an ultra tight budget too. This apartment came with our business premises and hadn't been updated in over 20 years,
The wall and floor tiles were chipped and cracked. The pale green laminate on the benches was scratched, chipped and peeling in places. The room was dated and dirty looking. We desperately needed a make-over!!
Paint was the magical ingredient that transformed this tired old apartment kitchen into the modern and fresh hub of our home. Our local hardware store had a variety of products that repaired and made-over our wall tiles, cupboards and benchtops with amazing and long lasting results.... and we came in under budget too!
Some clever additions to spruce up an otherwise boring little kitchen area were typography on the drawer fronts and utilising a blank wall space as a chalkboard message centre. We even managed to get in an extra shelf and hang rail.
If you'd like to know what products we used to update and transform our kitchen area on a budget, pop over and check out this 2 part make-over post.

Mary L Adkins on Nov 02, 2015Thank you so much for the wonderful ideas. My kitchen cabinets doors are peeling & my counter tops are in desperate need. I was thinking about replacing both until I saw your kitchen makeover. Love the black & white. Can't wait till Spring when I can begin work on my kitchen.
