Eq4bits on Mar 02, 2013Kind of looks, from what I can tell in the picture, like what is called a Tulip Tree around here, but is actually a Japanese Magnolia (http://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/giam/plants_and_grasses/trees/japanese_mag.html). They start blooming Feb-March, then after that in April-May they get their leaves. I have one in front of my house, but can't find the pictures I took of it at it's different stages.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Mar 03, 2013I have no idea what this is, but Japanese Magnolias have bright rose colored blooms, not purple, and Japanese Magnolias do not have these gnarled limbs like this one has. So I have to say....????? Get a better photo of the blooms.Helpful Reply
