Updated Vintage Ceramic Christmas Tree

I was really on the fence about painting this vintage ceramic tree that was my Mom's. I have had it for 25 years & loved it as a kid growing up. Remember when taking ceramics class was all the rage in the 70's & 80's? My Mom & Aunt used to go about once a month & make all kinds of things. Unfortunately, this is probably the only piece we still have. To say I cherish it is an understatement, however, I found myself not displaying it because it didn't go with my decorations. I know that probably sounds awful, but if you are a little OCD with your decor like so many of us are, I am sure you understand. I decided it would make more sense to take it out every year & really enjoy it then keep it in storage.
So, I gave it an update with two coats of silver mirror paint & painted the edges in faux snow. I ordered some new lights on ebay & now she is stunning! My daughter actually asked if I could give this to her when she gets her first house! That is what it is all about, passing things on that mean so much! Have a great day!

What do you do if the paint on it is got some glitter edges and it is rather dirty can you just scrub it and paint it the mirrored paint or will that not work

I agree its better to make use of it then having it stored away for no one to see, now it has a new lease on life!

Beautiful! I never thought to paint mine...guess I will be digging mine out of storage now as well as looking for others so that I can make one for each of my girls. Thank you so much for sharing. I think you can order the bulb ornaments from the Oriental Trading magazine if I am remembering correctly.
