I use the bleach to clean sterile and old rag. I am not sure if the sauce stains will remove by bleach

If you use a brush it will work better than a cloth. Also, you might try "Bar Keepers Friend".

Mr.Clean Erase Sponges. Work well on your light switch plates on the walls too.

Bar Keeper's Friend is my go-to tool for hard to remove stains on plastic, ceramic and the outside of my pots and pans. It's available in most grocery store cleaning sections. Just use a soft cloth and enough water to make a paste. Apply to stained area (citric acid is the acting ingredient). Wait a few minutes and thoroughly wipe off with a rinsed out soft cloth. If anything still remains it should easily rub off with the same cloth before rinsing. Make sure you use rubber gloves when using this product as it is very hard on your hands.

If you can't find BarKeeper's Friend (haven't tried that yet but hear it is really good), these 2 are not cheap but they last forever, so they are much cheaper than eraser sponges and other products in the long run. Did you try baking soda? I would make a paste with some water and then try to scrub with a brush.

I use plain old bleach on stained plastic, if it's white. Tear strips of paper towel, dip in bleach and mold around handle and let sit.

If the plastic has turned yellow it probably will not go back to orgininal white color. Take it off and spray with white spray paint made for plastics.

@Carol That's what i was planning if cleaning didn't work. I think the plastic molecules were changed by the stain.

You can smear Salon 40 (purchase from Sally's) wrap in plastic wrap. Let sit for hours or until plastic has whiten.

Sanitize and use appliance spray paint to brighten. I keep a pair of those nubby seatbelt strap covers on mine in black, they Velcro and remove & wash along with kitchen towels. True story.

@Beatrice Tangeman It's not handprints--its stains from a spill on the plastic trim below the handle. Thanks, tho.

Try Goo Gone spray gel. A little goes a long way. Wear gloves let set for a while.I used a wire scruby to scrub off the plastic. The longer it sets the better.

Scrubbing Bubbles removes just about anything that doesn't respond to anything else. Also a paste of baking soda and water, or vinegar.

I just used a powdered cleaner, like Ajax, Comet etc

Remove handles, if possible. Spray with Fume Free Easy Off Oven Cleaner (protect surrounding surfaces if you can't remove the handles) Allow to set 20 minutes, and rinse well. IF this doesn't work, try replacing handles with a non porous surfaced style. Good Luck!

*Allow to set for 20 minutes, scrub with old toothbrush, rinse well.
  • Blissful1 Blissful1 on Nov 06, 2015
Bummer :'| Did you apply it more than once and let it dry before removing? If so, and you still had no happy outcome maybe you can replace the handles? Talk with an appliance dealer and ask if that is possible? I hope you're able to solve the issue - I know stained frig handles would drive me bonkers! Good luck and sorry my suggestions weren't able to help you out...

Tile X-I think is the name of it. Bathroom shower cleaner really strong smelling but works great on things like this. It will also clean outdoor chairs, gutters u name it.

Thank you everyone for your ideas and efforts to help me. I tried everything, but finally gave up cleaning and pried the trim off and painted it. I was so afraid it would break, but it didn't! Pictures shortly.
