Too Afraid to Paint My Brick Fireplace!! Quick Change to Make It Pop!

Here's my fireplace...we wrapped it in moulding many years back. Took it from bulky to traditional. I found a mirror during a recent treasure hunt at my favorite beach in wrightsville, nc. Knew it was meant to grace my mantel.
So i hung it...and it was 'Blah.' It needed more....but i was too afraid to paint my brick fireplace.
So, i measured some yard sale quilt batting and spare fabric. Taped it onto the foam board (kids used all the hot glue so i did with what i had!) and voila!!!! I tacked it in using 4 small brad nails. This did the trick! Giving it the pop and pizzazz it needed. The mirror finally has the backdrop it so desperately required to pull off the look!
Hope u like it and will try this quick trick when your faced with a similar scenario. Good luck! Happy treasure hunting, rummaging, imagining, changing, painting, rearranging, recovering, upcycling and rejiggering!!...all in the effort to make your homes an fabulous and welcoming extension of yourself!!

Don't whitewash anything! The red brick provides a nice framing contrast between the woodwork and the actual fireplace. Paint the brick white and you just have a white wall with a gaping black hole.
