Repurpose Old Water Ski Into SANTA!!!
by

(IC: )
I found a couple old skis at the Flea Mkt. My husband and I had a challenge. We could only spend $20 and try to resell what we bought. So I paid $15 for the skiis. I made 2 into Santa. Kept one and sold the other for $40. So I WON!!
The hardest part was getting all the gear (rubber boot etc..) off the ski. Once off, I roughed up with some sand paper. Then primed ski. I used Olympic self priming flat. And I only did the fronts and sides. The back will not be seen and it's already water safe. (I got some narrow skiis that I'm going to try to make an elf or reindeer)
Painted with Acrylic paint. Many layers of different colors.
Beard was the hardest. I am picky!
Once painted. I let dry a few days, then sprayed with a clear matte finish. You can also use gloss. I think the other one was gloss. Both look good. My Santa leaned against the house near the front door (on porch). I can't tell you how many people want to buy one! Problem is...finding skiis that are old and cheap.
