Gar2275764 on Nov 13, 2015You probably already know that a really high fence will do the trick, but an 8 to 10-foot tall fence is expensive and not exactly aesthetically pleasing to most of us. I belong to several gardening groups where this has been discussed exhaustively, and people have reported that things such as Irish Spring soap, various predator urines (including human), and repellants do not work. One thing that was mentioned was that deer will not cross a double barrier. In other words, if you have two fences, or a fence and a dense hedge, that are too wide for the deer to jump, OR if there is just enough space between them for the deer to jump over one and land between them, the deer will not get beyond both. So if you already have a fence, you could plant a dense hedge, or vice versa. Hope this is helpful.Helpful Reply
