I've been scratching my head over why so many mushrooms have popped up in a certain area of my zoysia lawn and planting

beds.. After some research I realized its the result of decomposing roots from a problem maple tree I removed almost three years ago. The mushrooms are good for the lawn because they're helping decompose all of the old roots but yes, bad for kids and pets if the mushrooms are poisonous.

Smart to remember the previous tree! Nothing you can do about the mushrooms other than pick and dispose of them.

Mushrooms and related fungi always amaze me at their ability to "pop up"..talk about rapidly dividing cells!

So a mushroom walks into a bar and see a pretty lady and say hey lady how about a dance. She looks at him and says ummm no you are a mushroom for goodness sakes!. He replies...hey I am a FUNGI !

Can you use the "garden Variety" mushroom as a soil conditiomer? Just glof them off with a club into the flower beds?

Given a choice I would rather not have them and I understand that raking or cutting only spreads spores. Taking Walter's advice, I will pick them and get rid of them.

I was wondering about the spores. Just had Caddy Shack on my mind.

JOE ....ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO , WHILE CUTTING UP LEAVES AND PINE STRAW COVERING THE YARD , I CAME UP ON SOME MUSHROOMS IN MY NEW EMERALD ZOYSIA BACK YARD . THE LANDSCAPER HAD TO ADD SOME SOIL AND ALSO CUT UP A NUMBER OF LONG ROOTS FROM SURROUNDING TREES . I DON'T THINK I'VE HAD ANY DECOMPOSITION , BUT I HAD JUST A FEW TO POP UP ON THE FRINGE .
