How can I fix this broken mirror?  Would a windshield repair kit work?

I dont know anything about the repair, but if its crazy expensive you could always strategically break the rest of it and then you have art! :) Would be pretty when the light hits it.

Add two or more vertical pieces of stained/painted wood to match or accent frame (be sure and stain/paint the back of the wood pieces) and glue to mirror.

Being that it's a beveled mirror, I would either spend the money to purchase a new mirror or just get a new one.  You might find that getting a whole new mirror/frame is much cheaper.

Yes I agree with Doris I would add vertical painted wood and make a design, that would be the easiest and the cheapest way and would look nice and unique!!!

I had a similar problem and used wallies  in a vine pattern and a vinyl wall appliqué saying to make it into a piece orf wall decor first and mirror second!

GET some Liquid Glass from Walmart & mix it up using the box directions. Lay the mirror down flat on a table that supports the whole length of the mirror or on the floor. Gently, very gently & precise, just fill in the area that's cracked. Don't overfill it. That would be very noticeable but just enough & it will blend in with the surrounding glass in the mirror & blend in nicely. Let it dry completely before trying to hang it again. :) The remaining glass could be poured in a jar with artificial flowers for a permanent decoration or make some molds (using different ice cube tray designs) so you won't waste the rest. OR make 1 big paper weight with the rest. The possibilities are great. :)

I had this problem with a very large mirror on the back of a china hutch.I glued crystal garland from hobby lobby on the cracks.Made it look very pretty.

You could buy a nice flower or plant garland and drape it across there or buy some stained glass squares and glue them to each end of the mirror in the same pattern. I do also like the idea of putting a piece of trim across it in that spot and do another on the other end like it and paint it to match the frame, it will look like it was supposed to be there.

I would consult a professional because this appears to be a large crack/break not a chip which is what the diy windshield kits are intended to fix. The limit seems to be 6' and can not go all the way through the ends. From what I remember, the diy kits are permanent so no second chance if you don't get the result you want. Having said that, you don't have a lot to loose by trying it if a professional is too costly and you could use a camouflage or work with it technique, listed above, if you are not happy with your diy.

I usually make a vine of stained glass w leaves over the crack.  However you can use any medium such as felt, cardboard, even balsa wood! Cheaply done!

Because the crack is in the middle the mirror may need some extra support in the center. That is a lot of weight pulling down. Make a strapping type support to hold up the mirror from the bottom-up before you camo the crack. There are ready cut stained glass kits.

I would reinforce the breakage points with epoxy or some adhesive and then glue mosaic size pieces in some symmetrical fashion over the cracks, maybe matching a faux strip of mosaic to balance it out elsewhere on the mirror. You can buy mini and 1' mirror tiles or you can use those flat glass floral beads. You can use shells or other beads from craft store jewelry supplies. Its a beautiful mirror, what a shame, but it will be beautifuller when you are done!
