How do I paint a faux fireplace white?

    Hi Ladyjane. A pic is worth it's weight in gold around here! If it truly is a "faux" fireplace, any type paint will do. If it's a a fireplace that is no longer used but could be, you could use ready mixed grout without sealer. If it is an electric fireplace, then that is a wood byproduct. We really need a pic to help you more efficiently.

    I just love Annie Sloan chalkpaint. Or check out Miss Mustardseed for some painting ideas. Hope this helps. You can also find recipes for making chalk paint, but I have never tried them. And last of all, just get some good ole latex paint. You can go shiny or you can use flat, then go over it with a glaze and then a soft wax. Good luck!

    I would not personally paint a fireplace white, as it can be rather hard and cold looking, I'd rather choose a white with just a hint of colour in it! That being said I would use a eggshell or satin finish rather than a gloss! Use a roller or a Roller system or Spray paint for best effect.
