Before/After Eat-In Kitchen With Lots of DIYs!
We had a pretty standard eat-in kitchen (with lots of blue wallpaper!), but was able to transform it with some fun DIY projects including a plank wall, built-in bench seat, leather cushions, pillows, etc.
Let's back up a bit and take a look at the before. It's not the exact same angle of the room, but it's close. The wallpaper and dining set had to go. After ripping the wallpaper down and selling the furniture, we had a pretty blank slate.
I had wanted a modern plank wall for quite some time, so I decided to put one in this space. It added so much to the overall feel.
Does it have the "wow" factor? I can't believe we were able to accomplish so much over the course of just 6 weeks!
After the plank wall was put in and painted, we started on all the other details (DIY leather cushions, banquette, pillows, decor, plants, etc.). The DIY leather cushions were a simple project, but I adore the added warmth they bring to the metal chairs.
The wall by the stairs got some new art and a fun geometric mirror. I love the pairing of the art with the pillows.
I recovered the vintage chairs with a modern and fun fabric. I'm living on the wild side with that fabric (it's not upholstery weight!).
We changed out the light with a more modern one that really is a big showstopper. The light and the DIY Highland Cow painting steal the show.
All the pillows were DIY, which helped save lots of money. Plus, I was able to put my own touch on them and really make them one of a kind.
I love how the overall space looks now. It's fun and modern and so us! Tutorials on some of the pillows and the built-in bench seat are coming. The tutorial for the leather cushion is already up as well as the plank wall. You can see more details/pictures on my blog!
