Maggie: in order for us to give any ideas, we have to know if it is a stovepipe, a brick chimney or whatever. That is why everyone is asking for pictures..

I wouldn't decorate my wood stove . Everything on them here , has to be fda approved . You might not have insurance if you have the same regulations there . I read your safety guidelines for where you are first. Here all around the stove has to be heat and fire resistant . So metal , tin or heat resistant tiles only.

I would be nice to see a picture of the area that you are talking about. I would only paint the chimney, etc. You will have to use heat retardant paint. Do not know what you color scheme is. That would be important as to what color you would use. Take in consideration if the wood stove smokes as a light color will get smutty. Be glad to assist you further when you give me additional information.
