Making Rag Wreaths

We're fabric agents by day............and so we always have swatches from one season to the next - shirting fabric to be precise.
And every year my husband tosses them in the trash before the next season starts.
I'd never given it any thought for some reason - until this month - when it dawned on me that it was extremely wasteful to do so.
I grabbed a ton of them - not knowing what on earth I could do with them.
One night while watching reruns of Downton Abbey I took the pile out - along with some embroidery hoops I had from a left over project and made wreaths !

They're quite small - and too wide
and so i cut each piece in three strips
tied them together
and then simply tied them in nots on the hoop
I made a few small ones and one large one !
And there you have it - swatches saved from the landfill LOL !

Kim Kilmer on Nov 23, 2015Absolutely lovely. I imagine quilters would also love to get their hands on those pre-cut swatches also!
