Reclaimed Wood Christmas Tree

You may have noticed my last few posts about staying busy with some side projects, one of them being tearing down a pergola. The side projects aren't on hold due to the holidays though. We plan to continue working on a few projects around the house over the holidays while there's some time off from work.
So we made the decision not to put up a Christmas tree.... but I couldn't be a total Scrooge.
So I designed a tree using leftover wood from our pergola. It will barely take up any space and will be easy to move if necessary.
And I was itching to use some of that wood!
Building the tree itself came together very quickly. I even had some extra pieces of wood leftover so I added a few small shelves.
Due to the weight of the tree I needed a substantial base. I grabbed an old 2x4 I had and pieced together this base.
The hubby and I had picked up this little bucket a while ago from Goodwill. It was only $4 but we had no idea what to use it for.... finally I found it's purpose! I placed the tree in bucket for a little extra height and stability.
I added a bow, some lights and pulled out just a few of my favorite decorations
I added some lighted garland to the top of the bucket, my tree skirt and some gifts.
Enjoyed the project?
