What is this?

I kind of inherited this and none of us can figure out what it is. It about 5" tall and I think it is made of Plexiglass. Originally we thought it was a pie vent. But I don't think it could go in the oven because it is not glass. The three legs have sharp points. We also considered something to keep saran wrap off frosting on a cake. It is not very wide so do not think it would do a very good job of that. It is for the kitchen and made in Taiwan. There are no holes in it. Would love to know what this is. Any help will be appreciated

Is it something to do with tatting?

@Gloria No, nothing to do with tatting. Implements used in tatting are not at all like this. Metal or plastic shuttles are used for tatting.

Thanks Gloria but it is some kind of kitchen gadget. It was my mother-in-laws and she did not do any kind of handwork. I am positive she did not do tatting.

Patricia you have made our day!!! Where did you find the picture? I have been scouring the internet and have found nothing. You have definitely nailed it! Now we just have to figure out what a cheese clincher does and why would you need one??/ Thanks so much. I would never have figured that one out.
