Any suggestions on how to make this look better? I don't want to stain it because the cabinet drawers can't be stained.
As you can see the cabinet is damaged along the bottom. Missing pieces.
I'm not sure how to deal with the fading.

Wood filler for the chips of veneer (easily found at DIY stores), fill and sand smooth. You can stain the sides and paint the drawers. Or paint everything. Choose a paint suitable for bathrooms and color to compliant your tile and fixtures.

You could put bead paneling over the side. What are your drawers made of? You can stain non porous surfaces with most gel stains, as they sit on the top like paint, so they are non-penetrating. I have used the Old Masters brand, and have gone over wood, MDF and laminate with it. As long as the surface is well scuffed and cleaned, it should stick. You can just top coat it for extra protection. You would have to check the different specific brands to be sure. If you can go that route, you could do the sides as well. Of course like @lee said you can always paint it too.

get a piece of bead board or a scrap piece of paneling or just a wooden board cut to fit. Paint the entire vanity with whatever color you like or stain the wood. for the kick boards use subway tiles, glue them on with loctite. no need for grout, because you but them up to each other. I have done this in my kitchen, and bathrooms. Makes cleaning a breeze.

GET someone who can saw and take a sheet of wood paneling ( Lowe"s) and simply glue or tack it to the cabinet. It can be painted or stained or if you find one the right color that is even better.

If you can get a piece of plastic sheet, I mean thick one that is at times used for ceiling in garden shed. Fix in the sheet from all the 4 sides and spray paint it.
