Creating a Nativity on the Mantel

For this year's Christmas mantel, I wanted to try something different. I knew I wanted a star-lit sky behind this set of nativity figures that I bought at an after-Christmas sale a few years ago, and I had to do a lot of thinking to come up with this simple idea for my sky.
Here's the ugly behind-the-scenes fireplace screen. This screen was my mother's, and it had been hanging out in the attic. I drug it down, and I used florist wire to tie a set of net lights to the back of the screen.
I secured a piece of blue fabric to the front of the screen with magnets, and I got my star-lit sky. I added faux trees, faux holly garland and plaid ribbon to complete the mantel.
