How to pretty up the blank side of a refridgerator in a small kitchen?

Country Design Style-Jeanette on Dec 04, 2015Maria, can you add a piece of beaded board to the side? You could add base board to make it seem like a wall. Do you have a picture of your fridge?Helpful Reply

D on Dec 04, 2015I like the bead board idea too. If you can install a thin board like bead board is, maybe you could apply tin tiles, staple/nail/glue different moldings to it and paint. Add cup hooks (very small hooks) for leashes, keys. Use chalkboard paint/white board paint for a message center, magnetic paint for kid's art work and pictures, glue cork board, add grown up art to the board if no kids or not an area for that type of display-paint an abstract on the board (always easy-no rules). Decoupage favorite photos or vacations, postcards. Staple a favorite material or lace to the board. No room to put up a thin board-hang a curtain using the one arm swing away type used for patio doors. Use two rods and make tension at top and bottom. Hope some of those ideas inspire you. Let us know what you decided!Helpful Reply

Lee on Dec 04, 2015Maybe 'Less Is More'!! Let it be and be your 'statement', everything in life does not have to be cluttered. And a platter filled with cookies and a cup of coffee on the counter may be all you would need to state your 'welcome'Helpful Reply

Marie Caruana on Dec 05, 2015I have the same situation and collect all the Christmas pictures, put them in magnetic picture holders and display on the side of the fridge all year, then save the old batch when the new batch comes in. Fun to compare how much the kids have grown over the years.Helpful Reply

Wanda.ll on Dec 05, 2015I would make it a chalkboard myself. Could then put on drawing for the seasons, recipes drawing on it to show what month it is. Even could put grocery list, all kinds of things . Do it a a big frame so could remove or use spray paint directly on it. That is my take.Helpful Reply

Kimberly Hozer Durbin on Dec 05, 2015You can attach anything your heart desires when you buy a roll of magnetic tape. A chalkboard like mentioned before, wood veneer trimmed with molding (veneer to keep it lighter in weight) to match your cabinets or how about a grouping of vintage aluminum or silver serving trays? Even a mini framed art gallery. I would visit the local thrift stores for inspiration. Hope this gets your imagination going.Helpful Reply

Carol on Dec 05, 2015My friend has this setup too and it was right inside her back entry. Her fridge has a thin wall covering the fridge; you might want to install a "fake wall" (just use 3/4" painted plywood) and then I made her a "family command center" with mail slots for each family member, a small white board for notes, a small cork board covered in fabric to match her kitchen curtains and room at the top for their family name created at the ceramic store. Nothing sticks out more than 3 or 4 inches. Looks great and is VERY functional!Helpful Reply

Buster Evans on Dec 05, 2015You "could" make the side a bulletin / message board.. by attaching either cork tiles or cork board or foam board to the side just thick enough for thumb tacks to stick into.. great for posting kids school work or photos etc..Helpful Reply
