Ugly Duckling Table to A...

This table was in terrible condition. The drawer was broken and the top was coming off. I knew exactly what I wanted to do to it and I couldn't wait to get started!
Top view with the leafs down.
Top with the leafs up.
This drawer was so swelled that it wouldn't budge. After spending 24 hours inside the house it slid right out but unfortunately there was no way to repair it. It just kept falling apart more once it came out.
The sides of the veneer were fairly easy to remove, however the middle piece left me with quite a few cuts and splinters.
Here's the top all sanded down and ready to go.
I painted this in general finishes linen and used their high performance top coat to seal the top.
I wasn't sure how the stripes in the wood would turn out with the lily on top but I really like it. I was torn between just staining the top or doing the flower.
I also included the petal details in the fold down leaf.
After sanding down the top I lightly drew the lily on top, applied pre-stain to get the wood ready and then began staining in the flower. I do this with all one color of stain.
Enjoyed the project?
