What a sticky mess!

My miniature artificial trees got stored with candy canes still on them. All that's left is a melted sticky mess. Hot water melts the branches. How can I get this syrupy mess clean?

I would try the reverse and saturate the branches with cold water to see if the candy hardens so you can then peel it off. Not sure but worth a shot.

Have you tried ice? Or Goo Gone?

have you tried setting it in the shower and run cold water over it? I wonder if a blow dryer running over it while cold water is on would melt the branches? Good Luck

What about using luke warm water? I think I'd try giving it a bubble bath using dishsoap and warm water. Then I'd drain the water and rinse it well with cold water. The cold water will help cut the bubbles faster. Swish it around in the warm water to work the stickiness out.

do you or a friend have a large freezer. Pop it inside for an hour or so and the candy should become brittle and easy to remove. Failing this, I'd put it in the bathtub with very warm (not hot) water and some Woolite. Let it soak and then use a fingernail cleaning brush to work off all the goo. Once it's clean, drain the tub and then give your tree a shower. Yuck! How annoying - so sorry this happened

Thank all of you so very much!! I'm going to try a combination of all of your suggestions. I don't know why I didn't think of making the melted candy cold or freezing it! It just goes to show that 2+ heads are better than one! That should work, but if it doesn't, I'll go to plan 2 - throw them out and buy new ones. After 8+ years, I got my money's worth out of them! Again, thank you all so much!
