Dining Room Decorating Ideas - Home for Christmas... #homeforchristmas

Hydrangea Home

The dining room is one of my favorites to decorate and I love trying to come up with a new centerpiece each season. I also love using a lot of fresh greens and naturals. As I complete rooms throughout the house, I will share my decorating tips with you here and on the blog.
I prefer not to use a tablecloth. My husband made the farm tabletop and I love seeing the wood and the wear and tear will just add to the character.
For this centerpiece, I took a honeysuckle vine, tied it into a wreath shape and placed on a silver platter. I placed a candle in the center and filled the space with pinecones, dried artichokes and pomegranates (you can also use fresh) I love decorating with produce! Finally, I tucked in some preserved eucalyptus sprigs around the outside.
This year I used cotton stems, crystal branches and grapevine to decorated the tabletop tree. I was going for a simple farmhouse look. The wall boxes are also fun to decorate with fresh greens, twigs and ornaments. I always have my favorite cookbooks and pretty platters in there.
I just painted this chair (a curbside find) in Provence and gave it a highly distressed finish. It makes the perfect vignette chair for this room and adds a great pop of color. (it's really not very comfortable to sit in). Above the chair is one of my painted signs, and a travel photo from the french countryside. Hard to see here, but in the photo, the cottage shutters and doors are the same blue color as the chair. Love it!
On the other side of the room, this little table features a pretty vignette, also with a natural feel. I actually painted the tree yesterday in time for this post! The urn contains birch twigs and preserved greens. A book is wrapped in birch paper and provides a little height to one of my preserved floral pieces. I also love "planting" glittered pinecones in mini containers. More details from this room can be found on our blog!
