Kathy Portie on Mar 16, 2013Yes, Miriam, I do. Not the best... but hopefuly you get the general idea. The blue in the marble and on wall is more of a sky blue rather than how it looks in the pictures. With the bathroom being small, you can see there's not much wall so I'm thankful for that! Just getting tired of that 'blue' wall! lol! Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks! :)Helpful Reply

Decor 8 on Mar 17, 2013From the pic it looks like you have a warm tone (brown or gold) running through the cultured marble. If so, I would paint the walls a color that brings that out more. It will warm up the room and draw away from the blue...then you could use a muddy gray/taupe or blue for towels and accent pieces. If my eyes are playing tricks on me and there is no warm tone in there....I would go for a pretty mid tone gray on the walls...lean more toward the darker grays than lighter.Helpful Reply

Kathy Portie on Mar 17, 2013Decor 8... Yes, there is a gold/brown-ish tint in there. It's so very light, tho, to the point of a biege coloring. Mostly due to age, I'm sure. In fact, I had to take a double look in the bathroom again cause it actually shows up more in pictures! I had thought of grey, but never thought of a warm color to bring out that biege tint. I think I like that better! Thank you for your suggestion! Oh, do you think something in the 'brown family' would work?Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Mar 17, 2013@Kathy Portie I think @Decor 8 is right on for the paint colour. You will likely need to bring home a number of chips before deciding on the colour. I noticed that you have double sinks and a large mirror. You might be interested in @Robert A post with what he did - very classy :) http://www.hometalk.com/search?filter=bathroom+mirror You could experiment with the colour of the shelf as it can always be changed but would suggest the wall colour to start with. You may want some blue accents - towels, shower curtain, wall hanging etc. I think blue and white would look good or blue and beige which would be harder to find. Do post an updated pic. Thanks for posting :)Helpful Reply

PeckDrywallPainting on Mar 17, 2013Kathy, If you can, I would recommend getting some actual paint samples ($5 ea) in a few variations of the color your leaning towards. Sometimes it's hard to get a good feel of the color from a small paint card.Helpful Reply

Decor 8 on Mar 17, 2013I think if you go to a Sherwin Williams or PPG paint store and ask them for a paint deck that you could take home, you would be miles ahead....I've made many trips back and forth because I was picking chips in the wrong hues. If they will allow you to take a whole deck it basically has every paint chip ...then you could pick a few and do exactly what PeckDrywallPainting said....a few sample pots of paint and you will have the perfect color! I do think the right shade of brown would be beautiful. It does not have to "match" the color in your marble...just complement it and warm up the room.Helpful Reply

Kathy Portie on Mar 18, 2013Thank you everyone. You've all been very helpful. Gail S.... I have seen Robert A's post, and absolutely LOVE what he did! Tho my husband is not a 'carpenter', I think he could pull this off... (or maybe I'm giving him toooo much credit here!) lol! Anyway, I do hope to have something similar in the near future. Decor 8.... I didn't know you could bring home a whole deck!! That will certainly help in buying the sample pots. Thanks again everyone! I'm off to checking out colors!! :)Helpful Reply

Sharron Abrams on Mar 24, 2013Have you tried looking at the grays for a color change. Gray seems to go with anything and if you get one with a blue tone to it - Hummm I think it is worth a look - good luckHelpful Reply

Sharron Abrams on Mar 24, 2013Accent colors are so easy with the gray color - you can change them from rust, dark blue, even greens would look good. You could change from winter to summer just by changing colors - how nice. Perhaps as a extra look you could add small tiles around the mirror as another accent - blues and graysHelpful Reply

Kathy Portie on Mar 25, 2013So true, Sharron! Gray makes it easy to change accent colors. I like the idea of the tiles around the mirror. I think I will look into that. I love the combination of blues, grays, and browns. For me, adding touches of brown would bring a warmth to the bathroom. Thanks for your input! :)Helpful Reply
