Front Door Paint Problem
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Mar 17, 2013The door should be stripped down to the metal surface, re-primed and painted. It sounds as though the underlying paint surface is at fault so it needs to be removed. Also if the door is behind a storm door it can also cause the door to overheat and bubble the paint finish. If this is the case, you may want to reconsider using a automobile type of paint and spray it on.Helpful Reply

BlueLine Home Maintenance & Remodeling on Mar 18, 2013I agree with Woodbridge either the original paint is faulty or the heat exposure is literally 'blistering'. And I've fried eggs on the summer Arizona sidewalks! I'd take it to an automotive painter.Helpful Reply

Helen Park on Jul 24, 2015We had the same problem and were told it was because of heat from the sun. We opted to change to wood and never had the problem again.Helpful Reply

Jean on Jul 24, 2015Thank you, Helen. We finally just replaced it with a factor painted door. I miss having an off-beat color choice, but at least it is not bubbling.Helpful Reply
