Gar123700 on Mar 23, 2013@Sharon.. yes. "sheeting" is a great way to do this. . .and one would use 10 layers of newsprint.. or cardboard boxes cut flat do a great job as well.. this garden was just too large. 30 feet deep.. and then 165 feet long.. I began sheeting and completed under the new Rhody garden area after transplanting many.. but I ran out of paper, time and patience. .now I am having the guy that spread chips for me increase the depth another couple of inches and we should be fine.. We are on glacial sand here so I am using cedar chips to build soil/compost and create a fertile bed .. a long term project. .but needs to be done if we are ever going to stop the commercial fertilizing cycle.. I want out! LOL
