How to give your front door some pizazz while keeping the traditional look.

Front doors painted in bright colors or creative patterns are fun to see but may not be possible in all neighborhoods. In some locations, the rules and regulations dictate a more traditional or uniform look to each home.
One way to still have that peek of turquoise or that burst of tangerine is to paint the edge of the door. It's an easy way to have your door sport that pop of color or pattern you crave while still keeping in line with the neighborhood architectural committee.
I couldn't decide between bright pink or black and white stripes for my own door so I combined the two ideas. When my front door is shut, only the traditional black is viewed. But when the door is opened, an unexpected pop of pattern greets my guests.
It was a very simple project and may be easily painted over when I desire a new look.
