Peg you can start with a good cleaning using white vinegar and warm water. Sometimes soap or cleaning solutions create a build-up which in turn causes a milky look. If you have ceramic tile you can also inquire at your local home store in their flooring department and ask what products they recommend.

There is a product called, "Quick Shine". You can get it at most grocery stores for under $6. Make sure your floor is super clean, then squirt this on your floor and mop it on with a very clean mop head. It gives a poly type finish; but wears off within a month, depending on foot traffic. We use it on our cement floor until we decide to do another layer of real varnish. It's magic stuff! :) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Quick-Shine-Floor-Finish-27-oz/19758081

If the tile is linoleum and old, pinch pennies and replace it, It will never come back to look new. All these things will just wear off quickly.

If it is wall tile that is ceramic tile, you can also use car wax after you have cleaned them to get a shine. Don't use it on the floors, it will make them too slippery.

Oh no, Dee! That's too bad about your floor! I've been using it on cement, laminate, and tile for the past year. I put it on every month to two months and haven't had a problem. What happened to your floor?!
