Donna Clark on Dec 23, 2015I have a Kitchen Aid. It is the professional model with the 6 quart bowl. I am a pastry chef and use it for everything including making my own fondant which is very stiff and hard on mixers. It is 8 years old and still going strong. I bought it online for $300.00 with free shipping and its the best money I've spent for my home kitchen.Helpful Reply

Nanette on Dec 23, 2015I have the Kitchen Aid professional model and while the mixer itself it great, I just don't love it because it is too big for the jobs I need it for (it was a gift) and I had to buy a hand mixer (which I had never had to do in 30 years with my previous mixer) for small things like 2-3 egg meringue. I also don't like that the bowl must be lifted up and down with a lever. You may want to check this out and see what you are comfortable with. I would love to trade my for one wheer the head lifts up. It's huge, heavy and takes a lot of space on my counter. But I don't think you're considering this one anyway...that being said, Kitchen Aid is great, just be sure to guy the right size for your needs.Helpful Reply

Granny92306 on Dec 23, 2015I love my Kitchen Aid. So easy to use and there's practically an attachment for everything I need to do. I know I haven't used it to its full potential. I've had mine for several years now and carry it with me wherever I go (which is a lot of places as my type of work has me all over the country). That being said, it travels well too. ;-)Helpful Reply

Kjo935814 on Dec 23, 2015If you will be doing a LOT of varied mixing through the years, the Kitchenaide professional 6 qt. Is the one to last and will serve your needs for many years. I am 72 and have done much baking through the years. I started with a Sunbeam Mixmaster. It served me well for 25 years. I averaged 50 dozen cookies per week for at least 10 of those years. All on my Sunbeam. Mashed potatoes 3 times a week, divinity at Christmas and many cakes. The Sunbeam didn't knead bread dough real well and I eventually got the Kitchenaide Pro. It works like a champ!!! For all my needs. I'm not doing as much mixing these days, but after 25 years, the Kitchenaide is still going strong and will probably wind up in my daughter's kitchen. She has a Cuisinart Pro, but lusts for my Kitchenaide. I have several attachments for it to increase it's versatility. Good luck with whatever machine you choose.Helpful Reply

AKP on Dec 23, 2015We have a Bosch Universal Mixer - worth every single penny. For instance, made cookies yesterday, the mixer mixed and held dough for 10 dozen in the batch. I use it to make homemade bread as well, it mixes and kneads, and Bosch has the easiest recipe for bread. I make 4 loaves, mixing, rising and baking in under 1.5 hours. We are a large family and this mixer is used almost daily in our home. Awesome! Bought from Pleasant Hill Grain. And we have had it for eight years.Helpful Reply

Johnchip on Dec 23, 2015Take your time. These things vary so much in price month to month store to store, and online sites. I have seen the exact same mixer for less than half the price it sold for on one store than another. They are pricey and worth it, but do you homework, you won't be disappointed with all the money you have saved.Helpful Reply

Hunter Hampton on Dec 23, 2015I have a Kitchen Aid Artisan, it's perfect for everything except cake mixes. I don't like the cakes, so I use a cheap hand mixer when I make cakes.Helpful Reply

Mhs3246726 on Dec 23, 2015I read a review on America's test kitchen about the best stand mixers. Voted the best was the Kitchenaid. That was the determining factor for me. You can get lots of attachments as well. Remember though, go big or go home. The bigger the better. Get the top of the line. Costco I believe has them. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Elaine Marchant on Dec 23, 2015I've had my Kitchen Air Professional 600 and love it. I purchased the paddle attachment with the silicone edges and don't even have to scrape the bowl anymore. If I was to replace it I would get the new one out that even bigger and more powerful but this one does everything from pasta dough to bread and does a great job even mixing whole wheat pasta dough. If you've ever tried kneading it by had you know what I mean. It's tough to do.Helpful Reply

Karen Stark on Dec 23, 2015I would go with Kitchen Aid. I've had my KitchenAid Classic for almost 20 years, and it's still going strong. I've never owned a hand mixer that lasted that long. The only drawback for me is the size. During the holidays I make Stollen. I really need a larger capacity mixer for big batches of dough. I use the mixer anyway, but I have to stop and make sure the dough doesn't ride up over the dough hook into the stem. That's still better than trying to knead in all the fruits into the dough.Helpful Reply

Nancy on Dec 23, 2015I hate my standard Kitchenaid. The blade is difficult to remove if you have carpal tunnel. I definitely would get a new kitchen aid with a tilt back head. Be sure to check out ALL the features of how the bowl attaches to base and how blade attaches. Adding flour to a batter using My standard Kitchenid is a pain. I am sure the head that tilts back would make it an easier job. I have an Artisan model.Helpful Reply

Victoria Cross on Dec 23, 2015I've had my KitchenAid for around 20 years now and still love it. I love that I've been able to eliminate a lot of other appliances because of all the attachments available. And the ice cream bowl makes wonderful homemade ice cream!Helpful Reply

Duv310660 on Dec 24, 2015I too am very fond of my Kitchenaid - not the same model, but I've had it for 36 years. I don't use it a lot (not really into cooking), but I have no fear of bread, piecrust, gingerbread cookies, anything normally you'd have to mix with your hands. I have a wrist impairment; recently discovered I could knead polymer clay using the dough hook, and - by warming the mixer bowl in water - could make it soft enough to use to make molds for furniture appliques.Helpful Reply

Pam Walker on Dec 26, 2015I'm a baker & it really doesn't matter what name brand you buy as long as the bowl is big enough for your needs & the mixer has enough strength for thick cookie doughs. That's really all that matters. As long as it can withstand your needs, it will be the right one for you. I really like the stand mixers that have the detachable mixer from the stand. Some days, I'm in the mood for just mixing up a small ""something"" & it's easier to handle a quick beat around the bowl & other times, specially for meringues & icings, you prefer to do something else while it sits there mixing. Most all of them last about the same length of time depending on its use (or abuse lol) so it all depends on your taste, whatever hits your fancy. :)Helpful Reply

Wendy on Dec 27, 2015I also vote Kitchenaid. I have 2,,, one that has been going strong for 26 years, tilt head 4.5 quart...I upgraded to/added a 6 quart pro a couple of years ago, as I do a lot of large batch baking. Love it with exception of the head...no tilt and the bowl is finicky to get on the arms some times. But like others buy what you can afford, what meets your needs, and make sure you have the warranty support! I also just bought one for my daughter for a shower gift. Love the colors available from KA. Like another poster, look for the sales and coupons...got mine from QVC with extra attachments as a TSV. Happy Baking!Helpful Reply

Katie on Dec 27, 2015I love my Kitchenaid! It's been used by me and "kinda" misused by my six kids for many years now. And I agree, you have to scrap the sides and bottom but I think that's to be expected with any mixer. I also love that you can get attachments like the "grinder".Helpful Reply

Julie Moyna on Jan 24, 2016I have had my nana's since 1984! It finally died in 2003! I splurged on QVC for the evil pay...(easy pay). I decorated my last kitchen around my buttercream yellow mixer :). I have vinyl scraps on it. I use it all the time and it is going strong after 10 years!Helpful Reply
