Got stream or pond algae?

Got pond or stream algae? Here are a few quick tips for an algae free summer:
1. Clean your pond. As soon as Jack Frost loosens his icy grip it is time to clean your pond. Remove the living creatures. Place them in holding containers with water from the pond. Pump out the old water. Remove all debris (dead plant matter, leaves, acorns....). Rinse the gravel (pumping water out as necessary) until all debris/sludge is removed and the water runs clear. Refill your pond. Reaclimate the creatures.
2. Use Beneficial Bacteria. Everyone asks how to beat algae and besides a good old fashioned cleaning this is the best trick we have. Aquascapes sells two bacterias. Beneficial bacteria and Sludge Cleaner. These products work extraordinarily if your pond is designed preperly and you add them to your water regularly.
If your pond is too large to clean in this manner, or you are uncertain wether it was designed properly post your questions here....or check out www.facebook.com/naturescapespro for more info.

Nice to know! I've looked and looked for an answer and the "safe" product I bought killed 13 fish out of 18. Now I clean it every 3 or 4 days. Way too tedious. I'm heading to your site to find out more!

Must be sure to read if safe for fish then the products work great. 3rd year we have not cleaned our pond and we have clear water-a little brown color but very clear. Products from Mark the Pond guy and Russell Watergardens.
