Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 09, 2012I am thinking your talking about a reel mower? One that turns the blades as you walk behind it? I remember using that very same kind when i was a kid at my grandparents home in NY state. Although you live in Fl most of the big box stores should carry this type of mower. Up north they are breaking out the snow blowers and most of the lawn equipment is put away. But I know they sell them because I see them every summer in the isle. The edger with the little star shaped spikes with the wheel should also be available there as well. Just ask in the garden center for hand lawn edgers or look where the shovels and rakes are located.Helpful Reply

Alex on Jan 09, 2012Woodbridge: Thanks, so much. The "country" I was referring to was Liberty, New York some 60 years ago. What a memory!!!! I'll surely be watching for the tools now that I know what to ask for if I don't see them.Helpful Reply

Kevin M. Veler, Law Office of on Jan 09, 2012A quick search for "manual lawn edger" turned up a variety of types but also the rotary edger: http://tinyurl.com/edger-hometalk There are others so you may want to try a Bing search to see which may work best for you as to handle types, etc.Helpful Reply

Paul M on Jan 10, 2012Those only work well on small pieces of grass. Any sticks, stones or minorly sized debris will make using that tool a lot of work. But if you want the exercise then that would be the tool for you. I use a power edger but then again I have about 1000 feet of driveway edging to do once a year.Helpful Reply

David S on Jan 10, 2012A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK I SAW AN EDGER/ TRIMMER INFOMERCIALTHAT LOOKED PRETTY GOOD .IT'S A WORX BATTERY PACK EDGER /TRIMER THAT WORKS GREAT . THE LINE IS SUPPLIED FOREVER AND I'VE TESTED WORX ABOUT THAT AND THEY SENT ME A NEW SUPPLY . THE LINE IS BRAIDED AND LASTS A LONG TIME . I'M OME SATISFIED USER . TWO OF MY NEIGHBORS USE IT WHEN THEIR GAS POWERED EDGER / TRIMMERS ARE OUT OF COMMISION .ALSO THE PRICE IS RIGHT .....CHEAPER THAN A GAS OPERATED ONE .Helpful Reply

Kevin M. Veler, Law Office of on Jan 11, 2012I have a Worx lawn mower and a edger/trimmer (as well as two of their blowers). All are electric. I love the battery operated vs gas features but I have a small lawn of about 1/3 acre. The lawn mower is great. The trimmer is okay (and they do have a lifetime supply) but the string does seem to break (not any more than other trimmers I have used but its not "super strength") and you have to psuh the button on the spool area to feed more string. I am okay with it and again, love the battery system. I wouldn't say its the greatest but its not bad. The Worx lawnmower (with battery) I love but its on the smaller size on cut width so not for everyone.Helpful Reply

David S on Jan 11, 2012I FAILED TO MENTION THAT I ALSO PURCHASED A WORX BLOWER WHICH HAS A MULCHING FEATURE . KEVIN .....SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR STRING PROBLEMS , I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAIDED STRING . IN FACT , I ALONG WITH MY NEIGHBORS HAVE COMMENTED ON THE STRENGHT OF THE STRING . MAYBE WORX HAS CHANGED THE STRING ? I BOUGHT AN EXTRA BATTERY BECAUSE I HAVE A LOT OF EDGING TO DO . I SEE NOW WORX HAS MODIFIED THE TRIMMER/EDGER TO USE A LITHIUM BATTERY . I'M BEING TO SOUND LIKE A SPOKESPERSON FOR WORX ! IN THIS DAY IN TIME , I JUST APPRECIATE WELL MADE PRODUCTS .Helpful Reply
